ABOUT ME

I am originally from Mexico City, where I studied a BA in International Relations at the UNAM, and I have a PhD in Political Science from the University of Minnesota.

My research interests are interdisciplinary and in my work I engage with concepts and theories from the literature on human rights, legal mobilization, procedural justice, judicial reform, rule of law, and normative and organizational change and diffusion. My regional focus is Latin America.

In my website you will learn about my work on three different subject areas:

  • Procedural Justice and Rule of Law

  • Victims' Rights

  • Public Prosecutors

I currently work in New York City and live in Westchester county.

(Personal trivia: my complete legal name is "Verónica Michel Luviano" because Hispanics tend to recognize the mother in their family name)
