ABOUT ME

I am originally from Mexico City, where I studied a BA in International Relations at the UNAM, and I have a PhD in Political Science from the University of Minnesota.

My research is on human rights, comparative criminal justice, comparative procedural law, victims' rights, procedural justice, access to justice, norm and legal diffusion, with a regional emphasis on Latin America.

I currently work in New York City and live in Westchester county.

(Personal trivia: my complete legal name is "Verónica Michel Luviano" because Hispanics tend to recognize the mother in their family name)
